The number of people that can now have access to a computer has just increased in Mozambique. That is the result of a generous community project in which 3 computers ended up in “Escola Industrial 1° de Maio”, in Maputo.
Inwent (German Organization promoting Capacity Building), Freioss (an Open source community moviment in Germany) and it@ab (29 IT Specialists coming from 7 different countries in Southern Africa) made this project possible.
Inwent represented by Ms Weber and Mr. Hans Peter Merkel supported the acquisation of the hardware and Software installation and configuration while, the IT specialist (from Mozambique) will provide technical support during one year.
Another player that joined to make this possible, was SchoolNet Mozambique with brought in the monitors and the keyboards for the computers.
The ceremony took place at the chosen school and many guests were present, including Local Press. During the ceremony, the Director of the School, addressed his gratitude for such an initiative and expressed his commitment for future cooperation.
Mozambique says “THANK YOU” and vow for great future with this important tools now available for the students.
